Walk for Water
to Shut Down Red Hill
For kūpuna to keiki and all life on earth, clean water is life. The contamination of our sole-source aquifer with jet fuel is life-threatening not only for those of us here now, but for generations to come.

Walk for Water
to Shut Down Red Hill
Sunday, April 23, 2023, 8:00 a.m.
Ala Moana Regional Park and Magic Island
The Walk for Water to Shut Down Red Hill is a benefit for the Sierra Club of Hawai‘i’s fund to shut down Red Hill and is being put on by Sierra Club of Hawai‘i kūpuna volunteers. The kūpuna have also partnered with younger generations, including the Hawai‘i Youth Climate Coalition, making this a truly multi-generational collaboration for a cause that will impact the very foundation of our past, present, and future existence here on O‘ahu.
This will also be our opportunity to offer a “Community Thank-You“ to Wayne Tanaka, Executive Director of the Sierra Club of Hawai‘i, the Sierra Club team, the Board of Water Supply, and its Manager/Chief Engineer Ernie Lau and Deputy Manager Erwin Kawata.
With their steadfast and powerful voices, the Sierra Club of Hawai‘i and the Board of Water Supply have been at the forefront in holding the Navy accountable for its failure to protect our water. Through the Walk for Water to Shut Down Red Hill, we will raise awareness of the on-going fight to save our sole-source aquifer, continue to exert pressure on the Navy to fully defuel and decommission Red Hill, and support the Sierra Club of Hawai‘i and the Board of Water Supply in their efforts to protect our water for future generations.
To show the Sierra Club of Hawai‘i and the Board of Water Supply that the community fully supports the consistent actions they have initiated for far too many years, please join us in the Walk for Water to Shut Down Red Hill. A united community can hold the Navy accountable, and will increase the momentum to save our water, for all of us, from kūpuna to keiki, and for all generations that follow.
See you at the Walk for Water to Shut Down Red Hill!
