Behind the Logo
Mahalo to Stephanie Chang Design Ink for the Walk for Water to Shut Down Red Hill t-shirt and logo design. Stephanie put much thought and time into researching the Hawaiian word for water, wai, resulting in the creation of the logo.
The design spotlights wai as “waiwai,” which is the Hawaiian word for "wealth." The second wai is upside-down, as a symbol of distress. Water is also reflective as it captures the colors of the sky and clouds. The natural formation of Red Hill, which forms an “m” shapeform, is a direct reflection of the “w” shapeform, present in the words
Water, Walk, and Wai.
